Sparta

It is a bright and shining day in the room of the 2 Kings of Sparta, Plestioanax and Agis II. A messenger has come in with news of the Peace of Nicias, with Sparta getting preferential treatment, of course. This ending comes as a result of centuries-long dominance over Athens in terms of way of life, governance, and any other way that matters. However, this victory has come with a price: Brasidas, one of the top Spartan generals, is dead with no clear successor. Brasidas already had a complicated position in the court; some loved his brash nature towards Athens, others thought that outright war would not end in their favor, or at least not in the favor of the entire world. Now the court needs to decide who should take over, and what their position towards a war should be. Now, with the war behind Sparta, this is a perfect time to shape what the future, with Sparta on top, should look like. But the court cannot get too comfortable and become at risk of being caught by surprise. There are rumors swirling of revolt from all sides, rumors that some key allies may be looking elsewhere, and rumors that Athens may be involving itself in pushes against Spartan power. Plus, some places are outright rejecting a Spartan way of life, which could spell the end for Sparta. So, to the court of Sparta, you must consider the future and the best way to preserve the power and way of life of the Spartan culture.

Rules and Procedure

This committee follows parliamentary procedure as defined in our Crisis Committee Parley Pro Document. However, procedure during committee may be modified at the Moderator’s discretion.

Position Paper

All delegates wishing to be considered for an award must submit a position paper before the start of conference. Position paper quality will be included in consideration of awards, however paper quality will not hold as much weight in award consideration as actual committee performance. Position papers are meant to ensure a basis for delegate research and help delegates feel confident while participating during the conference.
